City & Guilds Approved Centre
This autumn we will be offering City & Guilds Design for Craft Patchwork and Quilting (Course 7716 – 09), with a wider range of courses to follow as we move into 2012. The Level 1 Certificate in Design and Craft in Patchwork and Quilting will be taught by Anne Stacey – a name most of you will be familiar with. This is an ideal qualification covering the basics of design elements as well as a being good all round introduction to the craft of Patchwork and Quilting. The course requires 30 hours of study and will be offered with a flexible timetable. For those who want a better understanding of design and why it is important when choosing fabric, this course is the starting point to go on and have a career in textiles or for those who would simply like to gain a recognised qualification. Who is the course aimed at? Level 1 is aimed at those who are complete beginners, somebody who wants to gain a recognised qualification or those who want to enter into a structured course of learning and who may wish to gain teaching qualifications in their chosen subject. The three elements covered will be Colour, Line and Texture. The course will provide 30 hours tuition time and there will be an element of homework. The course aims to leave students with a simple understanding of design and craft skills enabling you to take an idea from design or inspiration through the design process to a finished project. Once the course is completed and you have a basic understanding of design you may then feel enabled to take on small commissions. Whilst undertaking the qualification you may discover a real passion for a particular technique and could then go on to study that individual aspect at a higher level, or continue onto Level 2 Design for Craft, Patchwork and Quilting. |
